I wanted to share a few photos from my trip to Austin, I had an entire day before Art-Xsacpe started and was so lucky to be able to spend it with an amazing and talented friend Stephanie Rubiano of Studio Rubiano..
We spend a few hours at her lovely studio and home and I have a couple photos to share..
AND THEN... Stephanie and I set out for the Big Texas antique flea market at Warrenton and Marlburger Farm...I have to tell you I never thought I would even have a chance to attend these events.. and yet, here I was going with one of the best Texas girls..! I really wanted to enjoy the experience.. so there are not many photos, I loved the BlueBonnets on the trip over and the long horns.. but just soaked in their beauty with my eyes and heart..
At Warrenton we visited "Clutter" and found a few treasures and then we saw Melody Doyle and Marie, and lots of the lovely work in their booth!
AND THEN...Stephanie took me to Marlburger... wow.. I wish I could go there every year.. what a treat.. We even ran into Barb Solem of Vivi Magoo when we were looking at all the amazing booths.. Sorry there aren't more photos.. but vendors at Marlburger did not want photos taken.. which as too bad.. as I love to promote these great venues..! :)
Boy, the swan was AmAzing... Stephanie and I both wished we could own that piece..!!
I simply have to share with you the amazing retreat hosted by Amy Nelson last weekend in Autsin, Texas. I feel so very fortunate to be included as one of her teachers for her debut event. I had not met Amy in person... we had lots of notes via email and facebook, so I was really excited upon arriving at the Wyndham Garden Hotel to meet her at the Art-Xscape registration! Amy was just as sweet, wonderful, and amazing in person as she was in our little notes.
Right from the first night when we were invited to a reception with delicious food and a delightful welcome speech by Amy, we all knew this was going to be a lot of fun..!!
During the entire weekend she was there to support, encourage, laugh with us and make the whole experience captivating for teachers and students alike.
She visited each class room, looked at all the student work.. we all looked forward to seeing her quick smile as she stopped by to say hello..
Amy is a doll maker extrodinaire and a quilter.. so I was finally able to see her work in person..and you can see it HERE.
I taught a Tattered Album class.. here are some pictures of the students work..you will be amazed by the innovation and styles of all these artists..
Look at the lovely little spun cotton ornaments.. we made .. aren't they just the cutest..!!
Thank you Amy... for a fabulous weekend in Texas... xoxo
