In a few weeks I am off to teach at ARTFEST and so very much looking forward it...it is a favorite place of mine to teach, such a unique venue and fabuous people! My classes are full there...However... I will be coming to the west again this year and have classes in photoshop and an "altered mixed media" book class scheduled for September in Petlauma with the "ARt-Is-You" Group! Here are the a few samples of my photoshop work and pictures of the book art.. I do hope you will join me in Petaluma.. I think we would have a lot of fun!!!
And here are some photoshop samples... In the photoshop class we learn how take a basically blank image or canvas and to layer images on the this canvas, to blend the images, make cut and paste digital selections and built amazing pictures with the many tools photoshop makes available in it's programs. One thing I love about photoshop is the ability to use my images over and over, changing their size, shape or color and etc, while keeping the precious original intact. Addictive really!!
I am thrilled to tell "Y'all" I am going to be teaching this year at Paper Cowgirl.. a big Thank you to Cindy Mayfield and Co., I can't Wait! Here is the link.. so you can see all the GREAT classes being offered!
I had an email this morning from Kimmie over at Digital Whisper and she has just finished the book "Digital Whipsers of Artist Souls"... I am thrilled to have a piece in the book. It is a lovely publication and you can see it here at Blurb ...! My piece is the one named "AfterEffects" which was here on the blog awhile back.
The other thing I was thinking about this morning as I watched the icicles icing .... was a litttle bio piece Sallianne over at "Art-is-You" asked all the artists to write. One question was asking about early memories of "art"... at first of course, I thought of the wonderful crayons and coloring books and all those goodies... but, as I really thought back it was not crayons, or paper which were my first love.. , My first love of art was in the fashion realm... I just did not know at the time that fashion was "art". Or that collecting and re-inventing the "old" was also an art form. So, here is my little story..I had a grandmother who owned her own little atelier.. she designed and made wedding dresses and not just the dresses for the brides, but entire wedding parties. Velvet muffs for winter wedding and little white fur capelets...flower girls dresses with taffeta and tulle even ring bearer pillows Now that I think back she was the "Vera Wang" (though my grandmother was Swedish )...no patterns, just cut and sew and magic happened.. it just seemed so simple. There were always piles of lace and satin and velvet for me to play with and I delgihted in putting those pieces togehter over and over. I can remember one of my first creations was a bonnet, all satin with gathering...around the brim..very couture for the day! Now, my other grandmother was a collector of all sorts of delicious and coveted items. One of thing she had among her many treasures were china headed dolls... some with cloth bodies, some with all china bodies and my FaVoRite's were the leather jointed bodies. Now I have no idea why, but she did not mind me playing with these ...so when I was 10 years old ( and I know I was 10 because being a "record" keeper, she put a note with one of these dolls). I began my first foray into dress design. Here are pictures of two of my first attemtps. When I was older I attempted to throw these dresses away, but, someone wiser secreted them away and now when I see them...they remind me where my art really did begin and how grateful I am to have had the opporutnity to create with abandon at one point in my life fearless of judgement.
I posted here yesterday about a fabulous doll I won at a Colleen Moody class ... it disappeared..WHAT. Oh... the post disappeared.. NOt the doll she is on the Piano..!
So here is the post re-do
A few weeks ago when I took a class with the wonderful Colleen Moody in New Jersey hosted by Kecia Devaney... I put my business card in a drawing for one of Colleen's dolls and I WON!!! Sadly, I had to leave on Sunday and could not be there for the second day of the class!
