On Sunday I picked up my Sunday Hartford Courant and put it on the table to read --- eventually... then this morning reading my email... I had notes from two friends with Congratulations in the subject line. Hum I thought -- wonder what that is about. It turns out one of my graphic designs was chosen for the front page of the i towns section... I am just delighted and here is the piece ... so thank you Hartford Courant very much!
Once a long, long time ago as a child I attended a wedding and the bride was wearing waxed orange blossom band with her veil... other than the wedding cake, I thought it was one of the most beautiful things I had ever seen... how did they make those flowers look so ethereal. I guess I will never know exactly how those bands were made, but I never gave up looking for a way to recreate them.
When recently I found some wired flowers reminding me of those original orange blossoms. So, I created this headband dipped it in beeswax with resin and added a flower created from layers of faux silk and organza....now if I could only figure out how to make that cake!
