Here in Connecticut we really are having a "cold snap" - so here is my Riley on the front porch, he refused to go outside without his blanket...I guess when a big Labrador is cold we should pay attention and wear our warmies, too
For the past several years the Mary lou Zeek Gallery in Salem, Oregon has hosted a 100 artist event in February. Each year the proceeds go to a charity or group chosen by the Gallery. I have been to fortunate to be asked by Marylou to participate again this year. One of the most enjoyable parts of this project for me as that each artist is mailed an object and a theme to base the piece of art upon. This year we were sent this lovely 8 inch square box and the theme was "What's Inside". Here is the box which arrived in the mail..
Along with the box came a set of questions to be asked of a child - I am so fortunate to have a cousin in Michigan with the most wonderful daughters Annie and Laney. There were for questions we could choose from and Annie and Laney answered each one for me via email. But, the answers I loved the most were to the question "What Keeps you safe when you are scared". Annie the younger said "her blanket" Laney the older said her family. I decided to include the answers from both these sweet girls and here are some work in progress pictures to the piece. To see the final piece you will have to visit the Zeek Gallery website in February when they will post all the pieces.
There are some nice nights in January - went it is cold and my laptop is nice and warm on my lap so, I just play with pictures....last week I fell a bit behind on all my work as my LaCie backup drive stopped working and with about 3000 images went with it. So, I am trying to restore a lot of the pictures and work... Here are a couple of the newer designs. And I am including a picture of my Riley - who takes his blanket and hides in the shower when he is upset by a noise or flying bug!
