Weekend ...

It has been an strange day.. the first three times I printed an image, it was upside down... went  to frame the finally printed  image and the glass needed to be replaced... and on and on...I am thinking this might be a good point to jump off from work and watch a movie..but I have so much to do... so took a bit of a break and took a few quick snapshots...of stuff ...you get the idea...lol

 

 

 

 

 

 

Now maybe I will visit Pinterest and then get back to work!!

keeping warm ... sooo I made some Lentil Soup and these Spiral Cookies...

I found the recipe in Pinterest and the recipe is HERE.  

And then whipped up a few Valentines for the Bleu Willow...

Now to get some work

Ready to Go..

The piece for the Mary Lou Zeek Gallery is ready to go..headed for Oregon...
Here is a little story about how it all began.  I received this lovely packet from Jane Wynn.. with 3-Four Leaf Clovers .. a sweet printed note and some of her amazing artwork to inspire me. 

 

I LOVE working in specimen boxes and I am sure you have seen my work in these before.. so it just seemed like there had to be a speciman box which would work for this project....so I pulled out on of my last boxes of this size and an old book cover which fit into the box..

So.. now what?  Looking around the studio I found a fabulous old Ambrotype of a woman... and she looked stern like a teacher.. but I really loved that part of her dress had peeled off the back of the ambro glass.  So.. she was perfect...I added the clovers on top of her image and used ice resin to hold them in place on the glass and as it hardened I added a few pins to make them look as if they were pinned to her bodice. 

But the real treasure came as I was building the assemblage layers.. again perusing the studio, my eye hit on an old botanical book, pages from which I had used in other assemblages, flipping through.. I can across the cover page and by goodness.... it was as if the page was just printed for this day.  At the top it says Mrs. Lincoln's Botanical Lectures ..which is fabulous.. but at the bottom it was published by HUNTINGTON. Co.... in Boston.. what are the chances... so now I had the perfect layer to go beneath my ambrotype.

And finally with the lid attached and a few additional elements.. it is ready to go...

Sunshine and 2012

Christmas was lovey and I am looking forward to a quite and happy New Year's as well...2012 has already gifted me with some lovely treats... Here is an article in the new Belle Armoire, one of the fabulous Stampington Publications...

 

And I will be teaching this year at "ART UNRAVELED... in Scottsdale, Az... it looks like so much fun...My classes will be two books..you can see some pictures here, too!  Registration Opens January 15.

Can you tell I like small over stuffed books....???

I am really hoping for a much nicer and happier 2012 and wishing everyone a truly Happy New Year!!!
